Description
A unique photoshoot by a professional photographer in London. This experience gives you great insight into the historical photographic process of Wet Plate Collodion! You will receive a one of a kind portrait of on glass plates, using vintage technology and large format camera, just as the Victorian photographers did in the past.
Every photograph is carefully handcrafted – after being photographed you can observe the process of its creation and developing in the darkroom. The photoshoot takes about 1.30-2h and results in 2 glass plates to be taken home in an elegant gift box.
Ambrotypes are photographs created using large format camera Victorian wet plate collodion photographic technique. It is a historical, craft-based process, during which photographs are hand-made of pure silver, creating a unique multidimensional image on the glass plate.

About Magda: Polish photographer currently based in London mostly interested in exploring cyclical nature of human rituals by utilizing historical photographic technique of wet plate collodion, using contexts of identity, memory and ethnological investigation. Her works has been subject of several solo and group exhibition around the world. As an educator, leading alternative and historical photographic techniques workshops. Collaborated with various acclaimed art institutions and galleries, such as British Museum, University of Arts London and more. About Workshops: The idea of alternative workshops is to bring to the wider public (adults, children, seniors) a range of workshops which aim to raise awareness about the very beginnings of photography and encourage experimenting with them in most creative way. Whether experienced or not, workshops are tailored for various kinds of audience, from small groups to community engagement projects. Magda’s journey with historical processes began in 2013 and since then through experience in both education and hands on photography assignments she has gained an excellent skill set which includes a range of photographic techniques: more experimental and complex such as wet plate collodion photographic glass plate process invented in 1856, gum bichromate, salt print, as well as those basic and simple to use like cyanotype, anthotype or pinhole photography. For last few years Magda has taken part in several festivals, larger community projects and private events internationally, providing participants with a great deal of knowledge, experience and entertainment.
