Hand Forged Metal Rose Boutonniere

Cameron Aylwin, from Pegswood near Morpeth enlisted in the Army when he was just 17, Cameron joined the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers as a metalsmith, a job that took him around the world maintaining Army equipment. His welding skills quickly caught the attention of his comrades - before long they were asking for his help to send gifts back home for Valentine’s Day, which is where his now signature sculpture - a metal rose - originated.

But in February 2020, disaster struck for Cameron. While in Germany on an Army expedition teaching skiing, he was involved in an accident that left him with a broken leg. As a result of the injury, Cameron devat eloped arthritis in his legs and had to be medically discharged from the Army. Finding himself suddenly isolated and without purpose, Cameron turned to the skills he had learned in the Army to see him through one of the toughest periods in his life and after rediscovering his love of working with metal, he was inspired to carve out a new career for himself - by setting up his own metal design business, Aylwin Designs.
