We have been researching and exploring and in ‘our opinion’ some of the best value and luxury places to afternoon tea in Manchester. There are so many fantastic places to enjoy afternoon tea in Manchester and to help the LGE ambassadors, we gave them a strict criteria and minimum rating checklist. We have chosen the best of the places that the LGE team visited for afternoon tea, all venues were unaware they were being rated.
Afternoon tea at The Midland Hotel is a luxurious occasion and has been served at the hotel since 1903, offering one of Manchester’s grandest afternoon tea experiences. The Midland Hotel was refurbished last year and it does not fail to impress.
The service was first class, alongside a good selection of sandwiches and all dietary needs catered for. Nothing was problem and offered a substitute for anything that you didn’t like. Alongside fine loose leaf teas, including The Midland’s 3 private blends, after the sandwiches, indulge delicate cakes and fresh, warm scones with delicious preserves.
The Tea Room at The Midland is one of the city’s most iconic destinations. Manchester Oxford Road Train Station is a 6-minute walk away.

Grand Pacific, Afternoon Tea from £22pp
The Grand Pacific Manchester is simply breathtaking, with windows stretching to the ceiling, which incidentally is very high! and with the opulent surroundings, you will be blown away as you walk in. The afternoon tea at Grand Pacific Manchester, is on 1st floor restaurant, lounge and bar, which is stunning. The afternoon pairs quintessential British classics with contemporary flavours. Savouries included hand cut sandwiches, crumpet with lobster butter, forbidden rice arancini with goat’s cheese, marinated tuna & salmon tartare, smoked salmon potato cake. There were no scones, but you won’t be disappointed as the sweets were divine; lemon tart, passion fruit brûlée, chocolate truffle, sherry trifle, mini pavlova, along with a selection of teas and coffee. There is the option to add a glass of prosecco or champagne.

Great John Street Hotel is set within an original Victorian school house which has been transformed into a unique and chic town house in the centre of Manchester. The relaxed, intimate nature of the Oyster Bar makes it a perfect setting to enjoy afternoon tea. Afternoon tea is served combining traditional dedication with modern twist. The presentation of the afternoon teas was beautiful and there was unlimited tea and coffee available. There is also a rooftop lounge and garden for large parties and it must be pre-booked. The afternoon tea was enjoyable, in a stunning setting.
Oddfellows On The Park hotel, a beautiful mansion set in the vast grounds of Bruntwood Park, Cheadle. Set in the Hall’s old ballroom with some of the best views over the park, the afternoon tea was already off to a good start. We were served with the traditional sandwiches and savouries and delicate sweets to dies for! and of home made course scones and cream. There was a selection of teas and coffees and an option to have glass of fizz. Together with the beautiful views across the park it was a fun and relaxing afternoon.
